The Computer Systems Laboratory (LSC) has for mission to develop research on computer system technologies. Its main research areas include: digital systems design, processor simulation, compiler optimizations, code generation, code compression algorithms, dynamic compilation, parallel and high-performance computing, and other aspects of computer design. LSC has been founded in 1997 as a research laboratory of the Institute of Computing in the University of Campinas. Its research projects have been developed in close co-operation with Microsoft, Intel, Samsung, IBM, LG, Apple and universities in the USA and Canada. LSC graduates have been hired by some major global corporations, R&D laboratories and have also founded four startup companies.

LSC has been selected by NVIDIA to become a CUDA Teaching Center. GPUs have been donated by the company to support this initiative.
